Summary

Hand embroidered, fawn cotton, tray cloth created to commemorate the Centenary of Victoria in 1934. The embroidery features two images of the Exhibition Building (REB) surrounded by wattle, and is dated 1834 - 1934.

A range of souvenirs were produced for the centenary of Victoria, the majority commemorating the theme of progress, and contrasting the site of the city with what the pioneers, or the Aboriginal people, first saw. This domestic souvenir suggests the importance of the city through its use of one of the most prominent buildings on the city's skyline, the Exhibition Building. It further suggests patriotism through the use of wattle.
