Fundraising badge for the French Red Cross (Croix Rouge Française) dating from World War I.
The French Red Cross were established in 1864 as the as the Relief Society for Wounded Soldiers. As with other Red Cross Societies, the French Red Cross was dominated by women during World War I who saw it as an opportunity to assist the war effort.
This particular badge appears to have been designed in South Australia but was distributed nationwide from 1916.
