Summary
Full dress shoulder belt and pouch, which was worn by Robert McKeeman Oakley, an officer in the Victorian Artillery Garrison, from 1892-1901, and in the Australian Garrison Artillery from 1901. There are no identifying maker's marks.
The shoulder belt was worn across the left shoulder, over the Officer's Full Dress Tunic.
Physical Description
The curved leather shoulder belt is covered with gold ribbon. The belt fastens with an ornate, floral, gilded clasp. A black leather and fabric, two compartment pouch is attached to the belt. The fabric flap is embroidered with the British Coat of Arms above the banner 'Victoria', above a cannon, above the banner 'PRO DEO ET PATRIA' (For God and Country).
