Summary
Small pale yellow coloured paper wine bottle label, used at H.W.H Irvine's winery at Great Western, 1908-1918. The label depicts award medals and the Irvine crest.
Wine label is printed in black, gold and red ink and reads: "Irvine's wine growers to H.M. the King & H.R.H. the Prince of Wales. Gold medal Australian wines. Melbonia Red Burgundy. Hans Irvine & Co. Dowgate Hill London E.C. and Victoria Australia".
This type of label was attached to the front of large, cylindrical glass bottles. Bottles of Melbonia Red had red foil tops with two gold bands.
Physical Description
Small pale yellow oval wine label, black, gold and red lettering on a yellow background. The label features the Irvine family crest flanked by a reproduction of a gold medal on each side.
