Girl with ribbon in her hair, playing with her 'Gerry Gee' doll on her lap. This is a photograph of Debra Sheldon and her 'Gerry Gee' doll, 1967. The 'Gerry Gee' doll had a lever in its back and its mouth would open. You would talk and fit your words to the movements of its mouth, like a ventriloquist. 'Gerry Gee' was based on ventriloquist's dolls, especially the popular performer Ron Blaskett in the 1950s and 1960s. It was a very a popular and expensive doll at the time, and now a collector's item. But her mother Gloria remembers that Debra didn't play with it much.
