This photograph shows a view from the Formalin plant, to the cooling tower, boiler house and Phenol plant, at Monsanto Chemicals, West Footscray, in 1954. The photographer, David Meale was a trainee chemist. He would work at Monsanto during the day and go to Melbourne Technical College to study at night.
