Ann was studying at Emily McPherson College of Domestic Economy, on the corner of Russell and Victoria Street in the city (later RMIT) and doing a Diploma of Needle Craft. She went on to become a dress designer and pattern maker. She stayed in a boarding house in Victoria parade, Fitzroy. Here she and another boarder were hanging out in Gore Street around the corner from the boarding house.
