Summary

Toy drum, constructed from natural clay. It was made by a professional potter for children for the Ashura feast, Sidi Ifni Province, in 2009.

It is part of a group of traditional toys collected in the Anti-Atlas area of Morocco by Belgium Socio-cultural Anthropologist Jean-Pierre Rossie, during the period 2005-2011.

Physical Description

Cylindircal toy drum with main body made from terracotta, decorated with painted red, green and yellow geometric patterns. The wider upper portion has animal skin stretched tightly across it, with two lines across.
