Summary
Copy of a medal of Mehmet II (the Conqueror) of the Ottoman Empire. The original medal was by the Italian artist Gentile Bellini in Venice. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1883 by Robert Ready. This electrotype was not part of the British Museum's King's Gallery Exhibition of 1881. It's acquisition by the National Gallery of Victoria and thus Museum Victoria is yet to be traced. It is from a bronze held by the British Museum (Reg. 1883,0303.1).
