Summary
Copy of a medal of Antonio Giulio della Torre. The original medal by his father Giulio, was cast in the period 1519 to 1525 in Verona. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 at British Museum by Robert Ready from a bronze cast held by that museum (Ref. BM Corpus 563a, Reg. M.27). The electrotype in copper plated and toned.

Bare bust of Antonio facing left, with short hair and beard; around, ANTONIVS FI IV DELATVRRE QVI FECIT OPVS

Antonio seated facing right at the foot of a tall cliff by the sea-shore resting his head on his hand and extending his left foot to a dragon which approaches; at sea to right, three-masted ship with sails furled; above, from the top of the cliff, a bird flying upwards from the branch of a tree; around above, VIA INCERTA
