Summary

Copy of a medal of Andrea Gritti, Procurator of St. Mark's, later Doge of Venice. The original medal was by the Italian artist Giovanni Falier in about 1515. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 at British Museum by Robert Ready from a bronze cast held by that museum (perhaps from Reg. G3,IP.459 but that medal has a lug at the top). The medal commemorates the service of Gritti at either the seige of Brescia or Bergamo
