Official Program for the swimming competition held at the Olympic Park Pool on Monday 3 Dec, 1956.

The Games of the XVI Olympiad were held in Melbourne and Ballarat from 22 November to 8 December 1956. Participants competed in 17 sports: athletics, basketball, fencing, soccer, modern pentathlon, weight-lifting, boxing, hockey, yachting, shooting, rowing, swimming, wrestling, cycling, gymnastics, canoeing, and demonstrations.

This program is one of three belonging to Pamela Enright. On 3 Dec she spent the day at Olympic Park, watching the cycling at the velodrome and the swimming at the pool. On 28 November she spent the day watching athletics at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Pamela Enright kept these three programmes, her ticket to the swimming, and a 'Results and Records' booklet printed at the completion of the games.

Physical Description

An 18 page booklet (including cover), stapled on spine. The front and back covers printed in blue on cream paper. Inside text printed in black. The front cover features the logo of the XVIth Olympiad Melbourne 1956, the five Olympic rings above the Olympic torch, the handle of which points to Melbourne on a map of Australia. Printed on the back cover is a program of events including dates, times and venues, above a map of Melbourne with each venue marked. Printed on the inside back cover is a list of transport services to the various venues.
