The Games of the XVI Olympiad were held in Melbourne and Ballarat from 22 November to 8 December 1956. Participants competed in 17 sports: athletics, basketball, fencing, soccer, modern pentathlon, weight-lifting, boxing, hockey, yachting, shooting, rowing, swimming, wrestling, cycling, gymnastics, canoeing, and demonstrations.

This ticket belonged to Pamela Enright who attended three Olympic events: athletics at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 28 November, and cycling and the swimming at Olympic Park on 3 December. Pamela Enright kept the programmes for each event, as well as a 'Results and Records' booklet printed at the completion of the games.

Physical Description

Rectangular paper ticket, printed on the obverse in grey-green, cerise and black ink with an image of a swimmer diving across an image of Australia, the Olympic flame, seat and event information, and a clock with hands pointing to 7.30 pm. Printed on the back of the ticket are conditions of purchase, and a map of the swimming stadium.
