Summary

A pair of magnifying spectacles used to view fine details of film grain for quality control during the film manufacturing process at Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd.

They were used by Steve Brain, who worked as a production engineer for Kodak for 25 years. They are one of the very first pairs of spectacles used in the experimental film processing division at Kodak. Multiple spectacles were trialled in the early days, so it is likely that these spectacles were only briefly used by the small team of 3, before newer models were trialled.

This object was donated as part of the Kodak Oral History Project. It complements the Kodak Heritage Collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Physical Description
