Summary

A letter from then Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd, Mr Ed Woods, to all Kodak employees regarding the Total Quality Program (TQP), to be introduced in 1985. This letter, dated December 14, 1985, is an example of the quality improvement and control measures that Kodak undertook in the 1980s and 1990s in an attempt to make the business more competitive in domestic and export markets.

This copy of the TQP form letter was sent to Brian Phillipson, who worked with Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd for 36 years from 1955 to 1990. Brian worked in paper coating at Abbotsford, then Stores, after which he spent 22 years developing safe lighting technology for use in the darkened environment required for photographic product manufacture and finishing at the Coburg factory.

This document was donated as part of the Kodak Oral History Project. It complements the Kodak Heritage Collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
