Instructional album produced by Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd in January 1946, Abbotsford, titled 'Emulsion Department: Production and Experimental'. It details the production schedule and process for the Emulsion Department, listing employees and the work flow within the department for different products. It has 33 original black and white photographic illustrations plus several other black and white photographs (un-numbered) of the interior of the Abbotsford Emulsions Building (Building 5).

This album belonged to Ian 'Charlie' Yelland, who worked for Kodak Australasia Emulsion Department for 46 years, retiring in 1978.

This document complements the Kodak Heritage Collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

Physical Description

Binder with two metal screws in the spine, a brown leather patterned cover with brown canvas spine. Inside are paper pages with rounded corners, typed with black ink. The latter half of the book each page has a black and white photograph glued to it. In the very front, there is a scale drawing of the Emulsion Wash Building 5.
