Summary
This round head piece, known as memp or memba in the Arrernte languages, was collected by T.G.H. Strehlow from a Pintubi person he encountered during an expedition in the 1930s. Memba are commonly made made of emu-feathers and hairstring, and are used by Central Australia men to support their headdresses.

Structural element used to support headdresses. Made of human hair string and feathers. Coated in red ochre.
