Summary

Frame containing six images of athletes, each signed by the athlete, above News Limited banner and Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games logo. It was assembled shortly after the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, held 15-26 March. Framed sets of Games images were distributed to organisations which had partnered in the event, including Museum Victoria, which had worked closely with Melbourne 2006 in documenting and exhibiting the development of the opening ceremony. The exhibition, 'Spirit of the Games', opened at Melbourne Museum on the morning after the opening ceremony.

The people depicted are all champion Australian sportspeople:

Russell Mark, trap and double trap clay target shooter. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games Mark achieved a gold medal in the Double Trap clay target shooting event.
Michael George Klim, swimmer. During the 2006 Commonwealth games Klim won three medals, two silvers (100m butterfly, 4x 100m medley) and one bronze medal (50m butterfly). He was the only Australian to win a gold medal at both the Sydney 2000 Olympics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Tamsyn Lewis (now Tamsyn Manou), track. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games Tamsyn Manou won a gold medal in the 4x 400m relay.
Shane Kelly, track racing cyclist. In 2006 at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games he won a bronze in the Teams Sprint, alongside Ryan Bayley and Shane Perkins.
Grant Hackett, swimmer. Hackett was unable to swim in the 2006 Commonwealth Games due to recent shoulder surgery but acted as a non-competing captain.
