Black and white photograph of two female Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd research laboratory staff on a lunch break in the factory's garden, reading newspapers.

Seated on the bench, left to right, are: Trudie Mendel and Joy Shattock. According to the donor, Trudie was a refugee from World War II.

Joy remembers partaking of the free soup from the canteen at lunchtimes but mostly she and the other researchers would bring their own lunch and go down to the grounds to eat on benches facing the river.
