Summary

A staff bulletin or newsletter issued to Kodak Australasia staff in May 1923. This is the first issue of the Kodak Works Bulletin and it incorporates all branches of the company.

This issue includes photographs of Thomas and Alice Baker, and Miss Eleanor Shaw, as they set off on a world tour by ship, as well as a photograph of the Bakers and Miss Shaw at the presentation of a cot to the Adelaide Childrens Hospital which was donated by Kodak staff in South Australia. It also includes news from various branches, and reports on the Kodak Girls Club, a new recreation committee, the Kodak library, sport, the Kodak dance, and the girls' swimming club. There is also a personal column about staff who were ill, as well as notes on recent staff engagements and weddings. A photographic competition with a 1000 pound prize for Kodak staff is also mentioned.

This bulletin is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
