Summary
This calico apron was embroidered by an unknown person using a commercial pattern during the 1930s. It was donated to the Museum in 1985 to display as part of the SIO `Great Exhibition of Victoria'.
Physical Description
White cotton apron, full length, with tape fastening around neck and at waist. Apron has two small pockets, right one embroidered in stem stitch in brown cotton, left one embroidered with pink flowers and green leaves. Main motif on body of apron is of a horse, placed within a horseshoe shape which is covered with flowers and linked together with blue ribbon shapes. The embroidery is stem and satin stitch with French knots; apron is bordered with a polished cotton crocheted border on a pink blanket stitch base.
