Summary
Souvenir Spoon bought on board the ship SS Guglielmo Marconi by Laura Mecca as a souvenir of her journey to Australia when she immigrated from Italy in 1970. The SS Guglielmo Marconi was commissioned by Lloyd Triestino Line in 1960 to sail the Italy to Australia route. the Marconi departed on its maiden voyage on 18 November 1963, arriving in Sydney 11 December 1963. The 1970s oil crisis and declining immigrant numbers saw the Marconi make her last voyage from Australia on 23 November 1974.
Physical Description
Metal teaspoon, with an ornate handle. The spoon has been enamelled and has a picture of a ship on the ocean with the text 'G. Marconi' above it.
