Summary
Large conical-shaped loudspeaker. Used at Newmarket Saleyards.
A horn is used to amplify the relatively small sound output from the driver unit so that it can be easily heard over a wide area in front of the horn.
Some Newmarket workers recalled how men used to be called to answer a phone - often dreading bad news.
Physical Description
Metal loudspeaker. Centre bracket with clamp, and electrical connection at narrow end.
