Four 'Singer' pedesrtal stools, with screw type adjustable height wooden seats. Used at Simpson's Gloves Pty Ltd, Richmond, 1928-1988. Found in upstairs work area.
Simpson's Gloves Pty Ltd was formed in 1924 and produced leather gloves and coats, handbags, helmets and associated leather goods. The company first operated in Smith Street, and subsequently Alexandra Parade, Collingwood, relocating to Victoria Street, Richmond in 1928, where it remained until 1988.
Physical Description
Four stools, each on cast-iron pedestal with three feet, round wooden seats, adjustable in height by rotating screw-threaded seat stem in pedestal. 1. 30 cm diameter circular wooden seat, on 44 cm high plain cast-iron pedestal with three feet (no identification). 2. 30 cm diameter circular wooden seat, on 44 cm high plain cast-iron pedestal with three feet (no identification). 3. 30 cm diameter circular wooden seat, on 51 cm high plain cast-iron pedestal with three feet screwed onto T-shaped wooden blocks for extra height. "SINGER" cast in raised lettering across each foot. 3. 30 cm diameter circular wooden seat, on 53 cm high plain cast-iron pedestal with three feet screwed onto T-shaped wooden blocks for extra height. "SINGER" cast in raised lettering across each foot.
