The bill of sale for the sewing machine (ST 034601) shows it was purchased by Mrs J. Anderson from the Eastern Arcade, Melbourne, on 6 December 1883. The bill of sale consists of a small paper notebook containing payments made by the 'time payment system'. First payment 6:12:1883, last payment 19:1:1885.
