The uniform was acquired with a collection of military material associated with the service of Lieutenant Edward John Gaynor, 23rd Battalion Australian Imperial Forces, World War I.

Physical Description

Uniform comprising short khaki jacket and trousers. Khaki serge jacket has front pleated into fitted waistband, back shaped into waistband. Waistband fastens with tab and buckle. Two pleated patch pockets with flaps and concealed button closing. Front concealed button closing with five buttons. Notched collar with button hole. Medal ribbon bar, shoulder strap with cloth crown badge and button and button hole at neck. Long sleeves pleated into cuff with hidden button closure. Top of both sleeves have green woven cloth badge with 'AUSTRALIAN INTELLIGENCE CORPS'. Khaki serge trousers have wide waistband, side adjustment tabs, button down belt loops front and back, double pleat at front, curved side pocket both sides, slot back pockets with button down flaps and hidden button. Double button on waist band, inside buttons front and back for braces, four button fly. Button and tab adjustment on hem, protection tape on heel of hem. Large patch pocket on left leg.
