Summary
Volume two of the diary of Sergeant Major Gilbert Payne Mulcahy, 6th Australian Infantry Brigade Headquarters. The diary covers the period 20 March 1917 to 13 October 1917, when the 2nd Division, of which the 6th Australian Infantry Brigade was part, was in action just north of Glencorse Wood, Belgium.
Gilbert notes on 19 - 20 September 1917 that the '. country is in an awful state, holes & . dead horses & debris everywhere . The incessant roar of artillery is astounding. Numerous planes & tanks assisting .' 6th Brigade, North of Glencorse Wood,19 - 20 September 1917.
Sergeant Gilbert Payne Mulcahy enlisted on 15 February 1915. He was awarded a meritorious service medal circa 18 October 1916, and returned to Australia on 9 March 1919.
