World War I German army belt buckle. Gunmetal with imperial crown and inscription 'Gott Mit Uns' - 'God with us'.
During World War I soldiers sometimes souveniered items of clothing, uniforms, weapons, papers and other personal effects from dead soldiers. It is not known how this particular belt was acquired.
Physical Description
Gunmetal buckle, cast, with imperial crown and inscription. No belt attached. Metal has patches of rust and is extensively scratched.
