Summary
Australian Army Nursing Service uniform dating to World War II. The uniform seems to have been associated with the service of at least two women.
The uniform was donated by Sister Barbara Williams, with a collection of material relating to the World War I service of Alice Elizabeth Cocking, later Sister Alice Williams. The belt is inscribed 'W. Temple Smith'. A Winifred Temple Smith served in World War II - service # VX17187. The dress has a name tag 'M.F. Lindsay' and an illegible service number. This is probably Mary Florence Lindsay, VX62909, a lieutenant with the Australian Army Nursing Service. Born in Stawell, Victoria, in 1910, she enlisted on 1 September 1941 at the age of 30 and was discharged on 12 March 1946.
