Summary
Scale model of a horizontal steam engine dating from the 1870s. The model is fitted with a unique centrifugal governor with balls located on a curved track, and the crank is of a solid disc type.
This model, made by William H. Smith, was awarded a gold medal at the Intercolonial Juvenile Industrial Exhibition held in Melbourne in 1879-1880.
