Summary
Australian air raid precautions uniform, 1941-1945, comprising steel helmet inscribed 'SP' (stretcher party); brassards (armbands), one white two blue with 'ARP' in red, and gas mask in khaki shoulder pack.
The uniform was worn over civilian clothes to constitute Civil Defence uniform for air raid activities during World War II.
The provenance of the uniform is not recorded, but the donor's aunt (?), Gwen Luly, ran the Altona Air Raid Precautions, and the daughter of one of her neighbours, Vera Lugton, was also an Air Raid Warden.
