Summary

This wax model was based on a seedling peach raised by Robert Whatmough, Greensborough in 1875. In J.C Cole's Catalogue of 1873, Whatmough's seedling Freestone is described as 'large, handsome, distince & good, very late'. In a list of Fruit Trees published by the Horticultural Gardens in Burnley in 1894 it is called "Whatmough's seedling' and 'Whatmoughs March'. It is not known who made the Model but it would have been created in 1875 soon after coming to the Museum.
