Physical Description
Cylindrical glass bulb with insulating base. 4 pin Telefunken style base with three male pins and one female pin. Paper band in a channel around the base. This valve had a planar structure with a flat circular anode with a flat spiral grid above it and a catenary filament above that.

Bulb: Telefunken/DRP/TypeEVN171/Nr 191286-1 Base(paper band): Gepruft/(illegible)/In Betrieb/Unbrauchbar The letters "EVN" in the type number mean: Empfänger Verstärker Niederfrequenz - Receiver Amplifier Low frequency. The inscription on the base: "In Betrieb Unbrauchbar" literally means "In enterprise useless" which may be equivalent to the common English inscription: "For Amateur Use Only".
