Summary

The 45 was introduced in 1929 as the UX245. It remained in production until World War II (1939-1945). In the early 1930s the various prefixes were dropped and it became plain 45. At about the same time the globe style bulb was replaced by the shouldered type seen on this example.
It was designed to be used as a power amplifier in AC mains operated receivers. It has a 2.5 volt indirectly heated cathode.
This valve must have been manufactured in or after 1936 because it carries AWV's excise mark. These valves were used in instruments and some military equipment during World War II so it could have been made as late as the 1940s.
Manufacturer: Amalgamated Wireless Valve Co., Sydney, NSW.
