Significance
Commodus first received the tribunician power during the reign of his father Marcus Aurelius. When Marcus died on 17th March 180 Commodus was holding this power for the 5th time. It was renewed annually probably on 10th December. On this coin he is holding the tribunician power for the 7th time (TR P VII on the reverse), from this, the coin was therefore struck between December 184 and December 185.
