References
Heaton and Sons employed three of their stock standing Justice reverse dies to strike the token issue for T.H. Jones & Co. of Ipswich, Queensland. Although the obverse die cracked slightly from the rim to the T of IMPORTERS early in producing the tokens it did not deteriorate to the point where it needed to be replaced. All tokens are struck with the same obverse (Obverse A). Standard references and the Museum storage are arranged by die combinations fornd on the tokens. The three reverse dies can be identified by minor variations in spacing between the start and finish of the word AUSTRALIA and the horizon together with slaght changes in the relative position of the head of Justice in relation to the letters as follows: Die 1st A to Horizon last A to horizon Head 1 6.9 mm 6.5 mm near R 2 6.8 mm 7.9 mm between RA 3 7.5 mm 9.4 mm near A This token was struck with the die combination A/2 and has the obverse die crack to the T of IMPORTERS.
