T.H. (Thomas Hayes) Jones & Co. took out a full page advertisement in Pugh's 1862 Queensland Almanac, describing the business as 'wholesale and retail ironmongers' and giving his address as Union Street, Ipswich.

The following year Jones' advertisement in the same publication notified the public that 'they have removed from their late Premises in Union Street, to their new and more commodious Establishment in BELL STREET, (opposite the Australian Joint Stock Bank).'

Queensland Electoral rolls for 1862-1968 include Thomas Hayes Jones as a Householder in Ipswich. His address for 1862 -1863 was Union Street, after that Bell Street, in line with the change of address shown above. From this it would seem that Jones' house was attached to his shop.

The John Oxley Library (Brisbane) holds two photographs relating to Jones, both dated c.1860. JOL Neg. 89243 shows a row of shops, with a prominent sign, titled 'T.H. Jones and Company, Ironmongers, ca 1860'. Goods are just visible through one of the store's windows. JOL Neg. 89248, titled 'A small gathering, ca 1860' shows a group of six men, all of whom 'were well-known in Ipswich and in the district of Moreton Bay.' Thomas Jones is pictured seated.

The Assessment book for Ipswich Municipality (a 'rates book'), 1867, includes two listings for T.H. Jones and Co., one at his business address, Union Street, the other at the corner of South and Gordon Streets. The former was valued at 150 pounds per annum, and the latter at 25.
