Orichalcum Dupondius struck during the reign of the Emperor Vespasian in the period 72 to 73 AD, Ancient Roman Empire. Minted by Lugdunum, Gaul. Vespasian was Consul for the fourth time (COS IIII on this coin) in 72 AD and held his fifth from 1 January 73. The coins struck at Lugdunum do not appear to mention the Censorship, which he took up on 1 July 73, until the issues of 74 AD.
