Other Details: Decimalisation in the mid-1960s saw a number of new collector societies formed. One was the ANZ Bank Numismatic Society, which was formed in 1965. Ten years later, the society commemorated the ANZ Bank's 'gothic bank' in Bourke Street Melbourne with the issue of this medal. The bank is a secular Gothic revival building built 1883 - 87, on the corner of Queen and Collins Streets, Melbourne. Designed by William W. Wardell, it is renowned for its graceful interior ornamentation, including arches, pillars and gold leaf detail.
