Other Details: Awarded to Deane & Woonburn's by the Towers Pastoral Agricultural & Mining Association for the best Draught Stallion bred north of Rockhampton. The stallion's name was Monarch. The Towers Pastoral, Agricultural and Mining Association organizes the annual Charters Towers Show. Show events include animal contests. Charters Towers is located in the north region of Queensland, 130 km south-west of Townsville. It developed as a mining town from 1872, and in the late nineteenth century was the second largest town in Queensland.

Physical Description

An silver prize medal (45 mm diameter) featuring farm animals:horse, cow, bull, rooster, sheep, pig and dog in the foreground, and mining operations: a crusher and man emptying ore, in the backgound together with the name of the society and details of the winner on the reverse within a tropical horticultural wreath engrave on a central shield above a plough and below a rising sun.

Obverse Description

In the foreground a grouping of farm animals: horse, cow, bull, rooster, sheep, pig and dog, and in the backgound, mining operations: a crusher and man emptying ore,in the backgound. the artist's initials, R.C. below the start of the mining ramp.
