Khaki jacket from the Royal Australian Air Force, World War II - probably worn by Dr John Joseph Nattrass, RAAF, service number 257665. He was discharged on 3 Aug 1948 at the rank of Squadron Leader, TD & RS (meaning Temporary Duty and Reserve Staff). Born in 1922, he was the son of Dr John Hodgson Nattrass, who served in World War I and is also represented in Museum Victoria's collections.
Physical Description
Khaki, single breasted, unlined cloth jacket with two breast and hip patch pockets. Features ten brown bakelite buttons, with crown and eagle insignia - four down the front, one on each pocket, one on each shoulder strap. A metal caduceus badge is affixed to the right lapel, the left is missing. The jacket has a belt with a bakelite clasp. The shoulders feature four black striped badges. Name handwritten in blue ink inside the collar.
