Summary
Leitz arc lamp for microscope: for use when special coloured filtration was necessary or for photomicography when ordinary illuminators were too weak or unsuitable. Ran off a 6 Volt battery. Made by Ernst Leitz c1912. Used by Commonwealth Serum Laboratories (CSL) Limited , Parkville, Victoria.
Physical Description
Black oblong body with red circular knob, and moving carriages at top and side of body. Body contains moving parts including chain and cogs. Cylindrical component protrudes from top, hinged at one end, with a circular clear glass lens at top and a circular glass window in side.
Significance
An example of microscope accessories from early 20th century. Used by Commonwealth Serum Laboratories.
