Summary
Silver denarius of the Emperor Vespasian struck between 72 and 73 AD, Ancient Roman Empire. Minted by Rome. The obverse legend on this coin was used until 75 AD. However this reverse is only recorded with coins with the obverse legend ending COS IIII (worn off on this example). Vespasian became Consul for the fourth time in 72 AD and for the fifth time in 74 AD. The production of this coin is therefore between 72 and 73 AD as the Consulship was entered on 1st January.
