Summary
Copper As struck during the reign of the Emperor Vespasian in 74 AD, Ancient Roman Empire. Minted by Rome. The date of production is fixed by the appearance of COS V in the obverse legend. Vespasian was Consul for the fifth time in 74 AD and for the sixth time in 75 AD. Reference to the Censorship may suggest that this coin was struck well before the end of the year, he assumed that position on 1 July 73 AD and CENS on coins was discontinued while the Aequitas As pieces were being struck. It does not occur at all with COS VI.
