Copy of a medal depicting Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. The original medal, probably by the artist Christoph Weiditz, was cast in 1541. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. This two piece electrotype copy was made circa 1881 at British Museum by Robert Ready from a cast bronze medal from the collection of George III (BMC Reg. G3,GerM.39). The electrotype in copper plated and toned.

Two Corinthian columns standing in a rough sea (the Pillars of Hercules) in field divided by the pillars, PLVS. VLTRA; around, QVOD IN CELIS SOL HOC IN TERRA CAESAR EST. M.DXLI.
