Summary

X-ray equipment built by Dr Thomas Beckett, pioneering radiologist, circa 1907. Beckett constructed his own x-ray equipment from the early 1900s, while in practice in Northcote, and became radiologist to Alfred Hospital, South Yarra, in 1902. This photo is either of the euipment set up in his surgery at Chelmer, 340 St Kilda Road, South Yarra, where he resided from 1905, or at his previous surgery and residence at 180 High Street, Northcote.

The collection is primarily of Beckett's family, friends, homes, and towns and suburbs where Beckett and his family lived, including Charlton in central Victoria and Northcote & South Yarra, suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.
