Summary

Medal issued in 1916 by the Fitzroy Football Club, the year it won the VFL premiership.
It names O.M. Williams Esq. as President and M.E. Green as Honorary Secretary. The Fitzroy Football Club was formed in 1883 and merged with the Brisbane Bears to form the Brisbane Lions in 1996.
In 1916 club profits and player match payments were donated to the 'Patriotic Fund'. Only four teams competed for the premiership in a 12-round season: Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond and Fitzroy. Fitzroy ended the season on the bottom of the Premiership Ladder with a 2-9-1 record. A final four system was in use, so Fitzroy was still able to play in the Finals. Producing a remarkable form reversal, Fitzroy won all three finals matches to become Premiers, defeating Carlton in the Grand Final 85 to 56.
