A copper medal issued by the Shire of Ballarat to commemorate the sesquicentenary of Victoria in 1984-5. It features the Shire Arms which depicts themes of rural and mining industry and the motto PRAEVIUS and the sesquicentenary logo.
Obverse Description
At centre above a ribbon with the motto PRAEVIUS, the Ballarat Coat of Arms with two female supporters, the one on the left carries scales and a cornucopiae, the other dividers and a scroll, the shield is quartered and depicts an anvil (?), a golden fleece, a wheat sheaf and crossed mining tools; around, WITH COMPLIMENTS FROM . SHIRE OF BALLARAT .
