Summary
Eurythenes species are known throughout the worlds oceans. Eating the flesh from dead carcasses in the sea, these specimens were collected from a decomposing Manta Ray on the seafloor at 1,500 m depth off the coast of New South Wales during the 2017 Sampling the Abyss voyage on the RV Investigator. These three specimens are considered juveniles due to their size.
