Summary
Black and white photograph from an album containing a personal story of Julius Toth's immigration experience and a collection of 40 photo reproductions. Julius left Hungary late in 1956 following the unsuccessful Hungarian revolution and subsequent Soviet Occupation. He escaped to Austria where he spent three months in Displaced Persons Camps before migrating to Australia in March 1957. This image is one of three which record Julius' voyage from Amsterdam to Australia. He recalls that seeing the sea-plane in Cape Town they just had to take a photograph of a plane that could land on water.
Description of Content
Four young men, posing for the camera, leaning against a rail on the side of a walkway. Three of the men are wearing suits whilst the other is dressed in trousers, a shirt, tie and a woollen vest, he has a camera around his neck. Industrial style buildings can be seen behind them and a sea plane is anchored in the water that surrounds the pier.
